1970

The 1970 team won the District 10 Championship, and not only did they go undefeated at 9-0, it was their 39th straight dual meet victory. The 4 x 440 yard relay team of Doug Blackston, Rick Kissman, Mark Davis and Charles Britton won districts and finished 5th at the state meet.  

 

1971

The 1971 McDowell track team won their 48th straight dual meet on their way to a Lake Shore and District 10 title.

1972

The team was led by Al Majeroni (high and low hurdles), Mark Davis (440 yard dash), Jack Leech (880 yard run), and Jeff Rupp (long jump). Mark Davis had finished 3rd at the state meet in the 440 yard dash.

1973

The top athletes on the team included: Roland Baker, who led the team in the 880, Paul Renaud, who won districts in the discus, Keith Pierce, who finished 2nd at districts in the javelin, and Fred Brown, Mark Hoffman, and Jim Golden, who went 1-2-3 at districts in the mile. The 4 x 440 yard relay team won districts. Mark Davis finished 2nd in the 440 yard dash at states. The team went undefeated throughout the whole season, including winning the Mansfield Relays in the field, Youngsville Invitational, Section 1 North title, and the District 10 Championship.

1974

For the first time in 8 years, the team did not win either the Lake Shore title, or the district title. Paul Renaud was able to repeat as district champ in the discus and also won districts in the shot put. Laws was 120 yard high hurdle champ at districts.

1975

The 1975 boys track team became Metro Champions with a 5-0 record. The team also won the Section 1 title, and finished 3rd in the District 10 Championship. Mike Armbruster and Dale Scott were the Most Valuable Players on the team.

1976

The team was led by Mark Hoffman on the track, and Loel Tubbs in the field. Dana Lyons set a school record in the two mile run with a time of 9:50.4. Tubbs was the district champ in the shot put. The team beat out Tech by 9 points to win the Section 1 title.

1977

Dave Webster and Bill Whiteford led the team on the track and Walt Demjanenko led the team in the field.  John Delle Curti set a school record in the Intermediate Hurdles with a time of 41.5.  Dave Webster, Bill Gerlack, Doug Birchard, and Bill Whiteford set a school record in the 2 mile relay with a time of 7:57.6. The relay team won districts for the second straight year.

1978

1979

Stu Shoskin was the Outstanding Track Man as he won the District title in both the 120 High Hurdles, and 330 Intermediate Hurdles. They also set school records in those events with 14.7 seconds and 41.1 seconds. Kent Dahlquist also set a school record in the high jump with a height of 6'2 5/8". The 440 yard relay team also set a school record with a time of 46.4.
