1980

The Outstanding Track Award went to Sue Edgett, who set a Metro meet record 5:35.7 time in the 1600. Lisa Kirkpatrick set a Metro high jump record at 5'2'' and went on to place 5th at states in the same event. Michele Armbruster also set a Metro record in the javelin with a throw of 113'9.5''. The team placed 2nd to Tech in the Metro meet.

1981

Kathie Sitter set not only earned the most points of the season at 247.5, it was also the most ever for a female track athlete at McDowell. Kathie led the team as the Outstanding Field Athlete. The Outstanding Track Award went to Natalie Pace. The team earned 1st place at the Metro Championship, where Tricia Jaskiewicz set a meet record with a throw of 127'11 ¾'' in the javelin. The team was undefeated at 10-0 for the first time in school history. Fifteen athletes qualified for states from the district meet where they finished in a tie for 2nd place with Oil City. Michelle Brown had the highest finish at states, placing 12th in the 800 meter run.

1982

Kathie Sitter set school records in the 100 meter hurdles (14.84), 300 meter hurdles (49.44), and Metro meet records of 15.5 and 51.0 in the same events. She also set district records of 15.0 and 51.0. Natalie Pace was the Most Outstanding Track Athlete as she set school records in the 100 (12.6) and 200 meter dashes (26.67). The 1600 meter relay team set a district record with a time of 4:17.45. Although the team lost to Villa Maria in a dual meet to tie East in the Metro at 4-1, they went on to win the Metro Championship with 130.5 points. Oil City won the District 10 title over McDowell. Ten girls qualified for states, where 400 meter and 1600 meter relay teams both finished 16th.

1983

Kathie Sitter was the earned the Outstanding Track Award as she led the team in points (260.5), and placed 5th at the state meet in the 100 meter hurdles. The Outstanding Field Award went to Cheryl Catania. The team finished 1st in the Metro meet for the 3rd year in a row with 151 points. The girls finished 3rd at districts behind Oil City, and Academy.

1984

Kim Pasky was given the Most Outstanding Field award in 1984 and was named the Most Outstanding Female Athlete at the Metro Championship. Colleen Brown was named the Most Outstanding Track runner.

1985

After losing the Metro crown to Academy in 1984, the 1985 girls track team took it back. Chris Hickey set a new district record in the long jump, she, along with Julie Sierota, qualified for states, where they earned 6th and 5th place medals in the long jump.

1986

Samantha Lincoln qualified for states and set school records in the long jump (18-3.5) and the triple jump (38-1). Lincoln went on to place 2nd in the long jump and 5th in the triple jump at states. Julie Sierota made it to the state semi-finals in the 200 meter dash and both hurdle events. Chris Hickey took 7th place in the long jump at states. Although losing 72-69 to Oil City in a dual meet, the girls were able to rebound to win the District 10 Championship.

1987

This year the girls track team was able to defend their District 10 title, but fell to Academy at the Metro meet. Michelle Flak set the high jump record with a height of 5-4.5. Samantha Lincoln set records in the long jump at 18-9 and the triple jump at 39-3.25. Samantha Lincoln also became the school’s first state champion in the triple jump. She also placed 3rd in the long jump.  

1988

Led by state long jump champion Samantha Lincoln, the 1988 girls track team beat the favorite Academy to win the Metro and District 10 title, despite a 72-69 loss during the season. The team also placed 8th at the state meet behind Lincoln's win in the long jump, 4th place in the triple jump, and Michele Flak's 3rd place in the high jump.

1989

Natalie Jackson led the team in points as they finished 2nd to Academy in the Metro, and finished 6th at districts.
